Knock Knock Take a Break #4

๐ŸŽˆ Batchim (Final Consonants)

Hello, everyone! This is Soo from Play the Korean.
Today we learn something very important in Hangul — Batchim (final consonants).

1) What is Batchim?

Batchim is the consonant at the bottom of a syllable.

๊ฐ = ใ„ฑ + ใ… + ใ…
๋ฐฅ = ใ…‚ + ใ… + ใ…‚

2) Basic Batchim Sounds

Many batchim sounds are simplified when pronounced.

ใ„ฑ → k
ใ„ท → t
ใ…‚ → p

Example:

๋ฐ• → "bak"
๋ฐญ → "bat"
๋ฐฅ → "bap"

3) Sound Change Rule

When the next syllable starts with a vowel, the batchim moves.

๋ฐฅ + ์ด → ๋ฐ”๋น„
ํ•œ๊ตญ์–ด → ํ•œ๊ตฌ๊ฑฐ

This is called liaison (linking sound).

4) Mini Reading Challenge ๐ŸŽฏ

๊น€๋ฐฅ · ์ฑ… · ๊ฝƒ · ์ง‘ · ํ•œ๊ตญ

Read slowly → then naturally.

Batchim is tricky — but you did great! ๐Ÿ‘
